Just recently bought a set of lightly used GT28RS's from a forum member. I didn't notice until I fully installed one turbo, but the wastegate flapper valve is not shut all the way - there is a very slight gap to it. I can rotate it easily and there is also in/out play. I'm guessing this is probably not a good thing, but I only have my previous Sport 500's to compare this to, which didn't have any play at all and the valve was closed tightly. Is this acceptable or will I need to adjust it somehow? The wastegates/actuators appear to be original (Garrett?). I didn't think to measure actual gap, but I can check later tonight with my feeler gauge if that would help.
